Roadside Stops Plymouth, NH

Hey guys! I am just getting back from a trip to NH which is where my husband and I are originally from. It was our first time home in a year and a half. It was really nice to have baby Louis meet his huge Italian and Filipino families! We booked our trip around a celebration of life for my grandmother who passed a day after Louis was born. We weren’t able to hold a funeral for her due to the pandemic so we waited a long 14 months. I named Louis after my grandfather and I think my Nana was waiting until little Louis entered the world safely before she departed. She never got meet him so it was really special to celebrate her life with Papa Louis and baby Louis together.

Paul and I also attended a wedding in Plymouth, NH and had our first overnight trip solo!! My mom “Bammy,” my brother and my uncle all watched Louis and he did great! Of course, I wanted to get to Plymouth early and adventure around a bit in the few free hours we had. Our main point of the afternoon was really to just relax and take in some scenic nature spots.

It wasn’t hard to find beautiful places to explore in Plymouth, NH. The little town is located in the White Mountains Regions and was just the perfect serene nature trip I needed. We first stopped at The Quincy Bog a nature area with walking and hiking trails. Since we didn’t have too much time, my husband and I just took a little stroll and enjoyed the idyllic scenery. There is a wooden plank path over the bog and a cute little bench making for a picture perfect spot to take in the sights of Quincy Bog.

After our walk, we drove around and found a few more scenic spots to stop at. We came across the historical Smith Bridge which was originally built in 1850. I had to check it out because it reminds me of my childhood. These New England covered bridges are so iconic and picturesque. There is a bright green grassy field aside the parking lot and below the covered bridge is some sort of body of water with steps leading down.

After we snapped some pics at the covered bridge we hopped back in the car and started heading out to find a restaurant for lunch. Paul drove past a a farm stand and a food truck with local farm fresh food so, I obviously yelled at him to turn around! We were both super happy we did because they had picnic benches looking out at a field of flowers and plants. To me this was far better than sitting inside a restaurant to eat!

Longview Farm sells seasonal produce straight from their fields and conveniently has a food truck called Nourish Proper Foods on site. I ordered a summer salad with eggplant, tahini and pickled beets and onions and Paul ordered the mac n’cheese. I got an iced coffee and also purchased a sunflower from the farm stand. After we ate lunch we walked the fields a bit and enjoyed our last moments alone before the wedding.
