Now that it’s spring and the weather is getting warmer, I am back to blending up my favorite smoothies and açaí bowls! Berries and dragon fruit are loaded with antioxidants making them a great choice to mix into a smoothie. I love the color of dragon fruit, also known as pitaya, and I feel good eating the fruit knowing I am taking in a good source of vitamin C and B12. I recently discovered that dragon fruit comes from a cactus and the flesh can be bright pink or white in color. While I don’t think I have ever eaten a fresh dragon fruit, I use the frozen version from PitayaPlus to make my smoothies. If you visit the PitayaPlus website you can learn more about the many health benefits of dragon fruit!
The Berry Dragon Fruit Smoothie is made with three frozen fruits: strawberries, blueberries and dragon fruit, for optimal antioxidant intake! As always, I highly recommend only using organic ingredients otherwise you are eating pesticides, yuck! This easy to make smoothie will have you feeling pleasantly full and refreshed this spring and summer! I especially love it post work out or hike to cool me down.
